Karly Stedman

Getting tattooed has been a means of therapy for Karly Stedman. The process has helped her get through painful life experiences, coming out of them with beautiful art on her skin that she is proud of and giving her strength moving forward. She tells us about her tattoo story below:

“I got my first tattoo for my 16th birthday, it is a small paw print on my hip and since then I have fallen in love with tattoos. I have some tattoos for lost pets, family, friends and just because I wanted it. A few of my tattoos I got when I was going through hard times in my life like breakups, losing a loved one, family troubles or life just falling apart and I guess tattooing my body was the only pain that I could control. They have become part of me and who I am, I feel that in a way they protect me. My aunt is covered in tattoos and she feels the same way about hers and explained to me the reasoning behind why I feel this way too. People ask why I got the butterfly on my stomach and really I was just going through a bad breakup and I felt it was something I needed and wanted to do. I do not regret any of my tattoos and I plan to keep covering my body in beautiful art!”
